A case of rape of a teenage girl has come to light in Nangloi area. People caught the minor accused and handed him over to the police. The victim’s family and members of Hindu organizations surrounded and blocked the Nangloi police station on Thursday night, demanding action against the accused. Police officials pacified the people by assuring them of taking legal action against the accused.
The police officer said that on the night of April 30, a complaint was received about rape of a girl living in Nangloi. The girl was found lying near Nangloi metro station. Due to ill health he did not give any statement that night. In her statement given on the evening of 2 May, the victim said that nothing had happened to her on the night of 30 May, but the accused had physically abused her three-four times before. Based on the statement of the victim, the police registered a case under rape and POCSO Act.
Meanwhile, after getting information that the accused belonged to another community, officials of the Hindu organization reached Nangloi police station with the victim’s family at 8.30 pm on Thursday night. Everyone was angry with the incident. Hundreds of people sat on the road at Nangloi Chowk near the police station and blocked the traffic. Angry people were demanding strict action against the accused. As soon as the information was received, the district’s Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police Nangloi, Sultanpuri along with in-charges of Mundka, Nihal Vihar and Paschim Vihar West police stations reached the spot. Meanwhile, people caught the accused and beat him. The police saved the accused from the clutches of the people and arrested him in this case.
